Turned vessel made from maple, stained with amber Transtint dye and finished with semi-gloss lacquer. The stand was made from leftovers from the scrap bin, including a portion of a banksia pod, walnut and maple.

This was my first attempt at a bent wood lamination and I found it to be an interesting and challenging exercise. I wanted to create something similar to the stands made by David Marks for his hollow form vessels.

The combined height is about 13 inches.

Nicely executed! I love your sense of shape in your turning piece and the Banksia pod is an interesting combination. Banksia pods are unconventional but an interesting and actually quite durable wood like form. Nice job!

Really nice. Hope that gets a prominent place in your house.

I’ve been wanting to try some bent wood laminations. This is another reason to go it a go. Simple elegance.
