The couch box is the first project from Old Blue. I almost put more detail into it, but I liked the wood grain look too much.

I have ideas for more. This one is a gift for a little girl. It’s the right size for Barbie and friends. Maybe it will be a jewelry box when she grows up.

Roughly 4” x 4” x 8”. Figured maple , walnut and elm for the bottom. The seat, back, front and bottom pieces are cut on a 10 degree slant. 1/4” brass rod for the hinge pin. Shellac.

The turtle started on the lathe, finished with mostly hand tools and some dremel. It is a yet to be discovered species of mutant turtle. Cherry, with poly.

Both very nice projects. I agree with you that the curly Maple looks good without more details.

Nice – like the couch box too – but both are unique…...thanks!

The couch box is a great design for a young girl. The woods are beautiful and I totally agree that more ‘stuff’ would take away from the overall look. The turtle is really cute. The second pic looks like an avacodo cut in half!

Both very nice Hairy. When Barbie comes out to play, she has a spot to lay down n take a nap on that nice couch.
