Nothing like having your woodwork appreciated by mother nature. Your daughter is probably hooked on
birdhouses and birds for a while now and may even graduate to bigger projects, but daughters are rather
nice people to share a workshop with.

Stan,
Very nice birdhouse – and the fact that you built it w/ your daughter makes it that much more special!
Make a BUNCH of them – I have a couple dozen of all different shapes and sizes on a long fence running along our property – makes for a great showcase and the birds love it – bonus!
Woodshaver – thanks a bunch for that website. I will be saving it for future reference.

Well done birdhouse. I can’ think of a better project to do with a child. It is a sure way to instill a love of nature and hopefully also woodworking in a youngster.

Looks like a great project Stan!
I’m pretty sure your daughter’s got more skill than me already. :)
Gotta try this one with my little gals.
Love the shot of the new “resident” too.

I love birds, palletwood and have a daughter – so I am having a moment here.
Yes I think you should make some more.
Just wonderful.

Great bird house!
woodshaver – great site. I’ve used this page at Sialis, too. Nestbox specifications
One thing to note is their suggestion to leave the perch off, especially if there are House Sparrows in your area. Most cavity-nesting birds don’t need one.
Do you know who the tennant is? It looks like a flycatcher of some kind, but it’s hard to tell.
