Bamboo Rocking chair. Been working on this for almost 2 1/2” years. Here is a link to a short video of the chair:
The light color is “Natural” bamboo, the dark is “Amber” bamboo. The seat portion was the motivation for this project. It was a butcher block that my old boss had that he gave to me. The rest of it is made from scraps of bamboo from jobs we were doing, glued up and then cut. The arms and feet are bent laminations using a form and a vacuum press. The bamboo is difficult to work when drilling and chiseling out mortises in the end grain. Especially at an angle.
As always I welcome constructive criticism, positive or negative.

This is stunning!

The use of negative and positive space on the back is fantastic – this is a true work of art.

You should be very proud of this.

That is an amazing accomplishment! And a beautiful chair. Your ‘Maloof’ style joinery is outstanding. I’ve got a bunch of tiger strand bamboo scraps but I certainly don’t have your skill set. Great job. I am totally envious!

Beautiful work.

Best looking chair that I know about. Where did you get the design? It looks like the kind of chair that is only legal to think of if you live in Colorado ow Washington.
