I decided to make a new box joint jig and chose Matthias Wendels design. I didn’t stick to the plans because I can’t stick to plans! But it looks about the same and more importantly it works well. I made it from Baltic Birch and Maple. I included in some pics the first joint produced with the jig.

Nice. I’ve been looking at this one and Stumpy Nubs design and cant decide which one I like better.
Noticed that you have upgraded your fence on your unifence I just ordered the same upgrade for mine yesterday. How do you like it?

Richard,
I’ve had the fence upgrade for about a year and I like it but I haven’t used it to its full potentional yet. The t tracks are great and if you look you can see I have a stop set for the box jig. The extension rails of the jig slide over the fence and hit the stop before the blade pushes past the jig. So lots of options. I checked out Stumpy’s jig too but had already bought Matthias’ design. If I were doing it again, I would use full extension drawer slides as it looks like Stumpys does.
Jonathan,
It does work quite well. It took some tikering to get the gears working just right. I found that finishing them and using a little silicone spray helps. It is really nice to be able to gang cut a bunch of sides at once.
Thanks for looking,
Joe

Plans are only a guide :). Great build. I have Matthais’ plans for this I just haven’t built it yet.

I’m still waiting for someone to build one of those for me. A really cool jig. You did a great job on this!

I can’t even begin to understand what this even does. Building it takes a skilled craftsman, great work!
