HI Al,

This is a nice table and chairs but is there more to it? Wood type, the story behind it, type of finish?

All solid mesquite, top is book matched, all from same tree. Saw an add in paper looked, got, built. Had it KD then sat for 6mo. Had it wide belt sanded ,in Tucson, 90 mi from home. I knew when i saw it what it would be. Wife thought i had lost my mind! Making chairs was a challenge.as i had’nt done that before. mesquite=sharp tools, many moto-tool bits to do back of chairs. Finished with mix of tung, blo, var. Chairs all m&T with epoxy .

Napaman, it is available, but not always in large wide boards,i was lucky in that there were 4- 22”x84’x2’‘slabs for sale. Got them all for a reasonable price. Now it is selling for around $15.00 BF. It is a very h
eavy & hard , and stable.

This is a very nice table and chairs set. I am just curious, why did you title this “box”?

Great looking set. Mesquite is hard to come by in those sizes!

I like the carving on the top of the chair backs. Very nice.

Hey Alan,
Beautiful set made from a beautiful wood. I have only used mesquite for accents but would love to make some kind of project out of some larger boards.
