Did you use ebony for the inserts?

From Jim:
Thank you all for the kind comments.
The box is made from African Mahogany and Brazilian Ebony (Sartizia species) is used for the square and pillowed plugs. The bottom was done in the “French drawer bottom style” with hand tapered edges, and is free floating. There are no metal fasteners used for the construction of the box. Finished size is 7 1/2” by 12” by 4 1/2”.
All was sanded to 320 grit, finished with 6 coats of amber shellac and then multiple coats of wax.
Between box joint jigs for the table saw and prototypes (2), there is about 40 hours of work involved.
