Jersey is my 6 month old chocolate lab who has grown big enough for an elevated bowl. Her older “sister” has a similar food and water stand made out of pine, but cherry matches some of my other work in the kitchen. The cherry for this project is left over stock from my kitchen table project. It is simply three pieces of wood joined at the corners with hand cut dovetails. The finish is Danish oil and 5 coats of wipe-on poly. I cut out the hole on the top with a scroll saw before cutting the dovetails and probably should have done that in the other order since it seemed like the top was delicate while I was cutting the dovetails. Nothing too exciting in this project, just the beaty of the wood and the dovetails, but Jersey sure is thrilled ever time she gets to use it.

Pretty good. You think the dog really likes drinking that high off the floor?

NICE job- I have seen these in catalogs and stores but nothing as nice as this – As he grows you may have to increase the height? GREAT detail in the joinery.

Kenn,
This is a top of the line dog bowl. You see these in stainless but I have never seen one in cherry. You did a good job here and I am sure that Jersey and her sister should be treated like royalty.
Very nice job.

This is nice. It was fun to watch the step-by-step as you built this. The pooch looks happy, too.

Jersey is pampered too much with this bowl. Very good piece of work. A horizontal dowel support somwhere in the middle or bottom would have made the piece more strong I feel.

I did think about adding a horizontal piece dovetailed into the sides but I made a similiar stand out of pine about 4 years ago and it is holding up well so I decided to keep it simple. Thanks for looking.

Great job on the project. I like the contrast of the wood. Most folks do not know that the animal’s food trays/dishes need to be up off the floor so they can eat more natural.
