I wanted this to be a little on the rustic side to compliment the saddle, so I milled boards from a recently fallen oak. I applied CA glue throughout the cracks in the bark to stabilize it. Then I applied 3 coats of Waterlox, Satin finish over the entire frame. Decided not to miter the corners to make the frame appear ready for the barn.

FYI…The image is a colored pencil sketch by yours truly.

Hope you like the frame.

I love the frame. I do non-mitered frames as well particularly appropriate for western art like yours. Your saddle ‘sketch’ is super. You have some real talent.
