Butterfly Guitar

I built this guitar back when I was in high school with the help of my mentor Mark Garza. As far as I know Mark is still making beautiful guitars and basses.

I wanted the headstock to look like the butterfly was emerging from it. Should I ever build another guitar, this will be my trade mark I think! I wanted the butterfly on the neck to look like it was flying off the flower on the headstock. The guitar body is ash while the neck is maple with an ebony fret board. The inlays are mother of pearl, cedar, purple heart and ebony.

Nicely done. I like the blending of the flying V and strat styling.

Somebody popped your G-string. :-)

Where did the G-string go? (For non musician types – No, that isn’t some kind of innuendo.)

JoeineDE,

Now that is funny!!!! I just realized that. Honestly I haven’t played for many years…since I was injured in Iraq. The brain and nerve damage that I suffered really messed me up. However the doctors say I can relearn. I just pulled my acoustic out last weekend and started the process.

BTimmons,

The G string broke a long time ago and since I wasn’t playing I haven’t bothered to replace it. Something I should take care of soon.

Nate, nice to see your work on here. This is a great community of people. I think I said hello to you sometime in the last year. haven’t really seen you since i coached your soccer team(that was a while ago) Mark Garza is still making beautiful guitars. Sounds like you have quite a journey ahead of you, but woodworking is a great way to be active. Thanks for your time in the military.

-- Robert, so much inspiration here, and so little time!

Mr Triplett!

Wow, that was along time ago:). I see you all the time when I drop off my son at school. I had no idea that you did woodworking. How cool is that!!!

Yes the people here are wonderful! Good to hear Mark is still making guitars. I need to go see him sometime.

Woodworking is awesome! Sounds like you think so too.

Looks really good, as a guitar player I would be honored to have a guitar like that.
