Upper panels just moldings applied to 1/4” plywood

That mantle looks great. I would have liked to see more pictures of the finished mantle but these will work. As a suggestion the next time you are involved in a project like this posting intermediate pictures during the construction process is very informative and passes on some really valuable construction techniques.
Just something to keep in mind.
