Awhile back I posted the topless table. It has been topped. I thought I would use Q/S white oak, but decided on rift sawn instead. It presents a nice straight grain with just a teaser of flecking. The top is 1” thick, planed down from 1 3/8” stock. No I did not plane it by hand. Also, someone commented on my shop page that they noticed sawdust under my jointer. Impossible. I keep a much tidier shop than that.

The top looks just as nice as the base. Thanks for the update.

Great looking top. Nice job.
yah, I think the dust this showing under your jointer is sawdust from my hair, sticking to my screen with static electricity.

Someone is going to make a comment about what hair!
But, just ignore them.

bbqking,
This table turned out really nice and I like the 1” thickness that you left the top. It will add some additional stability to the piece.
Nice comment on the sawdust. I thought I had made that observation. :) I get yelled at when I do something like that. But this just makes a shop look like it is being used. After all it is a shop and generating sawdust is what we do.
Thanks for the post.

Looks a lot better with the top, that’s for sure.
I almost alwas have sawdust under my planer and jointer. Too much trouble to get it out and it can’t fall any farther.

Good choice on the rift-sawn choice. I like the hint of flecking, as well.
The little trash can under the dust port is hilarious, though.

A great looking library table, & great craftsmanship.
I have the parts of an old library table similar to yours.
A friend gave it to me , because it came unglued at every joint, even the tabletop.
It must have been stored in a real damp place.
I plan on using the wood on a future project.
