The first saw I was allowed to have was a scroll saw. Mom thought it was safe enough for me to have. I find they are still a valuable tool in my workshop. BTW, these photos are darker than they were in PICASA. Is there a way to lighten when posted? BTW, a big thanks to SirFatty who showed me how to solve the problem in PICASA & get a better picture uploaded.

I really like this design. The contrasting colors make the scroll saw work really pop out, and enhances the 3-dimensionality. Hope you don’t mind if I steal this idea for a future shop project :)

TedW,
My thanks for your kind words. Please feel free to “steal” my idea with my blessing! I wish it was a brighter image. If you like wipe-on poly you may want to try shellac. I used 2 coats of dewaxed shellac (cut 50% with alcohol) followed by a coat of wax. I think it makes a nice finish. I am now down to making quite a few boxes as opposed to larger projects.

Thanks for the finishing tip. I don’t get a chance to go shopping much, just too busy, but shellac is on the shopping list.
