This was a plant stand i build for a friend of my wife, out of some scrap oak I had from another job, I made the top so a 12” tile drops in and can be changed if the mood strikes her.

Very nice Joey. I like it. Nice to always use up some scrap around the shop.

Nice stand Joey – you’ve got some pretty sharp joints in there.

Good use of re-directed wood. And a nice idea to be able to change out the tile. If she is anything like my wife it will change just for the sake of change.

This was made out of some old shelves in a bathroom that had a roof leak and I think they were salvaged when the home owner got them. they were glued up 2” strips of oak so when they got wet and they got really wet they just came apart at the glue line. I save them to use as runners for jigs and blocking. the boards that I build this stand out of knocked around my shop for so long I actually had it out in the bin to be burned. so I was glad I could save from the fire. the finish was what was on the boards I just used a gel stain and a wipe on poly over it. and it seem to match the older oak that she had in her living room. this for me was a feel good project the lady was a older lady that worked with wife that was fighting cancer and I just enjoyed doing it for her, along with fixing door in her kitchen and other things around her house for her. some time these kinds of projects are the best paying maybe not in money but in karmic returns.
