Made my FIRST bandsaw project tonight. I just bought this Sears/Craftsman 12” tilting head bandsaw off of CL this afternoon for $50. 6” material thickness. 23×27” table. The friendly older lady (Mari) said her late husband (Jim) was a woodworker but more of a furniture maker than anything and rarely used the BS. She said she figured she could count the amount of times he used it on one hand… Came with the manual, three blades, a sand paper strip to use with it, full base, and the fence. It also has a work light.

Anyhow, back on to my quick ten minute project. The wife said, “How much do you Love me?” And i said, “What do you want?” she asked if I’d go to the store and get some eggs for her. So I respond with, “How much do you Love me?” She gave me a funny look and asked me why. So I asked her to step out into the shop and look at something (my new BS). She wasn’t sure what it was, so I asked her if she wanted me to make her a deer.. I don’t think she heard me before the door shut.

Ten minutes later, a piece of 2×8 pine and some fun, something that resembles a deer (mind you I didn’t draw anything, just started cutting). She Loved it! It’s not sanded, nor finished, but for the first thing off the saw I’m pretty proud.

Ohhhh boy, this BS could mean many more late nights! I’m very excited to see what else I can do with it. I’m sure Jim, Mari’s husband (The friendly older lady), would be very happy to see with how I’m putting this great saw to use yet.

Thanks for looking everyone! (remember, it was a quick impromptu practice project)

That’s a fine looking deer and a great start with the new BS!

Excellent find and great first bandsaw project. I bet we see many more creations in the future. Once you start it’s hard to stop.

I bought a 12” non-tilting Craftsman Bandsaw a few weeks ago off CL. Had to put new tires on it, and the blade was so dull I could only do test cuts with cardboard. :). Got a new Timberwolf blade today and played around with resawing some oak firewood. I had SO much fun! Blade cuts like butter! Congrats on your new toy/tool!

Have your say...
