2nd carved box using Andy’s blog. This box features a medallion in the lid, corner splines, and an ebonized ( Iron acetate ) finish. The body is ebonized red oak with maple accents/ medallion, handle, splines. The splines came out a charcoal grey color so they are hard to see in the pictures. I love the way the iron acetate came out with this wood. The blackening is due to a chemical change so it is even all around and shows the grain pattern nicely. I finished with 6 coats of hand rub poly and a paste wax to enhance the shine. This one is for mom. Hope she likes it!

Frank,
You are moving forward with leaps and bounds on this box. I like the subtle flow in the carving and the contrast you have in the colors. It might be time to work on some internal dividers, but you have a great box here. Your staining technique is a real success as is this design. Keep boxing and keep posting.
