Howdy, long-time lurker, first-time project poster. My new bride is a big fan of succulents. She asked me to build her a planter box for the front of our house where we could display a nice collection of succulents. We came up with a half rectangle pyramid design that will fit nicely under a window in front of our house.
During my trial an error period, I made a couple extra boxes, trying to figure out the basic design. The two boxes you see here are extras. Our plan is to load them up with succulents and drop it off at some friend’s house tomorrow while they are away. It’s a nice gift for them, as they are always bringing us small containers with beautiful succulent designs in them.
The planter box you see here is made of 1”x6” cedar fence boards, butt joints, deck screws, Titebond III, and 1/4” vent screen. The legs are made of 2”x2” redwood. I sanded the splinter-prone edges down a bit.
The next project will be just like this one, only with 5 layers. The boxes are built, I just need to cut and install the legs. I’ll get pictures of them filled up with the succulents as well.
AND, if I ever get off my butt, I will finish my Ultimate Tool Stand and post that as well. Just need to order the router lift.
I hope you enjoy. Thanks for reading.

Hi Joe- glad you posted a project here. These will look Great loaded with succulents (I love those) and I hope we get to see a photo of it loaded up. Using cedar was wise. Succulents don’t take a lot of water, so these should last a very long time. Nice design. Wish I was your neighbor! Nice gift.

Uploaded a picture of the box with everything planted. We dropped this off on their porch. It will be interesting to see if they know who did it.

Very nicely done, I like the design and the way this came out.
