Built-in media center 10’x8’ with a 23 1/2” deep base. This piece was built using poplar and was painted with a hand finish. The doors are 28”x42” and they open and close using a slide mechanism. Doors are inset with 1/4” round bead molding. The top of the upper and bottom sections are made out of Sepo with a natural hand rubbed finish. Constructed with mortise and tenon joinery and was built to last a lifetime.

That looks great Chris. I dig the sliding doors… looks like they only slide up top unless i’m mistaken?
I’m designing a very similar built-in bookcase for my living room with about the same proportions and using a basic lower cabinet design and upper hutch/shelves. At 13’ wide, I’ll be doing mine in 3 sections. Looks like the top section of your media wall is all one big piece. Can you go into a little more detail on your own plans? I’m still piecing my ideas together and would love to get more insight on what other’s have done.
Simple and straightforward design is what I’m after and you seem to have the same aesthetic. Excellent work buddy.

@sxstring, the top section is actually 3 separate pieces and the bottom section is two pieces, (5 total). The idea was to make it appear as though there only two sections an upper and lower. The sliding doors do slide from the top and I used a strip of sepo for a guide on the bottom. The sliding door mechanism is put on after the upper section was installed.

That is a nice piece, I usually dont care for painted pieces, but this is sweet looking, nicely done.
