One of my coworkers, knowing that I liked to dabble around with wood asked me to make him a cutting board. I asked him what style he liked and showed him some pictures of really nice looking end-grain boards to get an idea of what he wanted. His response was not what I expected, “oh no, nothing fancy like that, just a board”. So I took a look through my cutoffs from some of my other projects and this is what I came up with. Main section is cherry with a maple, cherry and walnut stripe down each edge. Apparently it was still too fancy because he has yet to use it, says he doesn’t want to mess it up. I guess I should just take him a chunk of maple and call it a day!

I can understand why. Why would anyone want to whack on something as pretty as that with a knife.

Very nice looking board. Sometimes the customer like the “simple” items we build instead of the fancy items.

You probably feel like a chef when he hears the phrase, “It’s too pretty to eat.” The board is very beautiful.
