I made this for my wife for Easter. It’s 4″ tall and 6″ in diameter and made of Maple with a band of Paduak.

Exactly! It just happened to be Easter Sunday when I was turning it and it looked so much like an old fashioned bonnet that I knew I had to finish it and give it to my wife that day. I called it an Easter Basket plant pot though because you have to turn it upside down for the hat. Guess I should have posted the photo of me with it on my head!

This is a beautiful vase. Every time I see a turning it makes me regret not having a lathe in my shop. You did a good job with this piece. The padauk compliments the maple beautifully.

That is a very nice turning. The dark band is just perfect to contrast the maple.
