Custom shadowbox for a retiring USAF master sergeant. Dimensioned to mirror real MSgt rank. Front is on hinges with a hexagon box in the back assembled with walnut splines. Front is assembled using routed mortises.
Made mostly from cherry with turned burmese blackwood for the center of the star. Stained using black cherry gel with black paint on routed surfaces for accents.

Nice box, how much do they run and how long do they take to make?

The last ones I built about 9 months back were ~$300 depending on the type of wood plus about $120 for shipping (I have to make UPS pack everything so it’s their loss if they break it). They take about 2-3 weeks to build but I like to have about 4-6 in case I need to make a supply run and allow for shipping.

I want to get this one for my wife (E-7), she is set to retire on 24 July 2015. We are stationed at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. So if you can send me the particulars and how to pay I would like to get the process started.

Have your say...
