This is a sofa table I made for my wife. It is made from ambrosia maple and walnut. It has a glass top and a glass bottom shelf. The joinery is all mortise and tenon except where the top is mounted to the aprons. I used pocket screws there and plugged the hole with walnut. I could have used maple but no matter what I did it wouldn’t hide the pocket screw hole so I decided to showcase them. The contrasting walnut plugs give it a unique look.

Nice table, I love the ambrosia maple, and I think using walnut for the screw hole plugs was a nice idea.

Beautiful grain pattern on the table top. What finish did you use?

I used lacquer on the whole piece and rubbed out the finish on the top. I rubbed through the finish in a spot or two I am going to redo it someday. It was my first attempt at a hand rubbed finish.
