I needed some kind of rack to hold my fishing poles because I am tired of having to un-tangle them from the corner of a closet anytime I go fishing. I wanted something that didn’t take up much space so I decided that it needed to mount on the ceiling.
Of course I browsed through the projects on this site for inspiration. Several members had made racks that hang from the ceiling but I really liked Ken90712’s rack that had the poles hanging from both directions to save even more space.
I headed to the barn and found three short sections of old oak barnwood (I think white oak). I sanded the wood to take off the dirt then squared it up with my jointer and planer. The large holes for the handles are 2” and the small holes are 1”. Everything was rounded over and it was finished with Butcher Block Oil that I had left over from my last project.

Thanks for the motivation. I have been thinking about doing something with my poles for years. Very nice job!

Great work, they came out really nice. Love the wood and always fun to reuse or save old wood. Thx for the nice words as well. Have you seen the fishing reel toliet paper holder? I made one for my buddy as a gag gift and he put it in his bathroom.

Thank you to everyone for the kind words.
Ken, I did see the tp holder as I was brousing your projects. I have several friends that would think that was the coolest gag gift ever. One of the next projects I want to do is a cross cut sled like yours. I also have the TS3650 and love it. Im sure that after I have the sled done I will be using the saw even more than I do now.
