So I’ve wanted to build this for a while now. My kids room is pirate themed so of course I got to build him a ship. I used 1/4 inch plywood for the ship panels. My buudy sketched out the ship design free hand. I then built the frame out of 2×6’s. My kids hard on his bed so it needs to stand up to abuse. I then went and made the helm(steering wheel) out of scrap wood hanging around the shop. You can’t have a pirate ship without a cannon so I got a 4×4 blank and turned one on the lahte. I wanted the lid in the front of the ship to be hidden so I made a shelf for to sit down in which made it flush with the trim. To add to some of it my buddy scrolled out a octopus skull and crossbones for the lid and I painted a octopus insignia on the side. For more on the ship refer to my blog.
