My local IT Help Desk lady is really into crafting and like her some craft ribbon. She told me that her current storage method was a bunch of Rubbermaid totes and that she couldn’t really tell what she had in there. She requested I throw something together as everything she had found online was too expensive.
I found some pieces of left over maple from a previous project and did throw this project together. In the end I think I spent a total of 3 hours on this, with most of that time being spent on the finishing aspect. It has 3 coats of gloss poly on it sanding with 400 grit between coats. I did have to finish this twice, as something happened when I tried to use a 50/50 mix of wiping poly and BLO. It looked like the finish never really dried and was sagging, so I had to sand it all off and start over.
So far I have only heard good things about the rack, it is about 20” across, small enough so replacing an empty spool isn’t too hard but big enough that she could store a decent amount of her collection. I did really enjoy making this as it was very easy to make and was a relief from another project.
Thanks for looking.

That’s great, I just made my wife a gift wrapping center using almost the same idea, I will post it soon. I guess I will need to make this one as well for all the ribbons. Nicely done and I bet she loves it.

Great idea for a craft person. Looks like it is being put to excellent and and will certainly work better then those totes.
