Thanks to Janet and David for the great vise-hardware! Finally a rock-solid work platform. It is ~90% made from solid-core doors, with the legs and shelf being cypress from the deck project. Multiple influences like Roubo, the LVL workbench, Scott Landis, etc. The end-vise jaws are Trex, super-easy to machine. The bench dogs are Trex faces with 3/4”-dowel for the dog-holes.
Not very pretty (see the ugly details on the blog about the fails) but totally rigid and HEAVY. Great clamping ability, it passes Chris Schwartz’s “kitchen cabinet door” test for work-holding.
Now to make bench hooks, a shooting board, maybe a bench-slave, and a bed!
