This is a watch mandrel for the Stuhrling Company in New York. It started out as something just kind of simple to get the job done, then it ended up this way.

Its made out of Purpleheart and Ash. The mandrel is for sizes from 4 1/2” to 11” watch bands. The purple rings are inch markings and the white rings are 1/4” markings. I stamped the number sizes at each inch marking and painted them white as well. I made the the cone portion on the Legacy so I could get it bang on in size.

The stand ia all out of purpleheart. I had the sides of the stand laser engraved with the company’s name and logo and then painted gold.

It was a fun project and just something a little different for once.

I’ll say different. I have never seen anything like this. Sounds like a lot of math may have been involved in the design.

It’s surprising how something simple and functional can be turned into something so beautiful

Wow Les,

You weren’t kidding about this thing. It is beautiful. I will definately have to keep that laser engraving in mind. It looks great.

I am like rikkor. I must have led a sheltered life because I haven’t seen anything like this. It is an interesting project and the woods are gorgeous.

Thanks for the post.
