This piece of wood is Locust, it was a scrap piece that was given to me. I aquire alot of my wood that way. It has such great pink and gold color. The piece of wood was fairly thin, but I thought it would be good for a live edge mirror. It had some areas that I had to fill, but I think it turned out definately one of a kind. It had a cool loop at the top for hanging, so I didn’t put a hanger on the back.

I had the mirror cut so that it covered all of the fretwork as well as the opening. The entire project is 38” x 9 1/2” x 1/2. The mirror opening is 11×6 1/2”. The mirror opening was made by following the grain, so it is not by any means symetrical. The finish is wax.

Very nice work once again. I really like your natural pieces and the way you incorporate scrolling into them. Well done!

I had the joy of watching the buyer of this piece study it for awhile, walk away for a little bit, then come back and take it off the wall. Then, I had the joy of ringing it up on the cash register at the PP gallery in CWF. Congrats for it finding a good home! I think you will do well with this concept, the mirror is something we can all find a place for when we spot something we really like. This piece is unique, well built, and I think others will also enjoy buying something similar to it in the future.
well done,
M
