I have made this serving tray. I made it for an art show I presented at in November. It is composed of maple for the frame, beech? for the bottom, and felled sapling from the woods of Pennsylvania. It is all scrap or found material. I finished this specimen with a coat of poly and only one coat because I was so hurried to get this into the art show to diversify my inventory.

Questions, comments, prayer requests?

Nice job. I like the rustic look the handles give it.

Nice tray, I’m with jaykaypur, the handles make it unique.

Thanks, you two! I agree; if I had just used maples blocks for the handles it would lack that wee lil bit o flair and creativity!

I like this a lot, very simple execution. One change I’d make is the hardware you used to attach the handles: they’re very visible, and don’t quite suit the piece I don’t think. Dowels from twigs instead maybe?

Yeah, I should have just drilled deeper, counter sunk, then added some plugs. Like I said, I was in a hurry and just needed more items for the art show. Thanks for liking!
