Nancy does wonderful art work and I make boxes. We combined talents to make something we could not make working by just by ourselves…artistic boxes.
The first is “Trees in Technicolor.” It is Sepele with Ebony corner splines. The second is “When Worlds Collide” the box is Macore and the corner splines, rails and tray are Movingui. The third is “Love in Bloom” is again Macore with Movingui splines. Nancy painted her part on gesso board with a new acrylic paint that lets her have a three dimensional look to her work. As an added touch she did a smaller art piece that shows when you open the box. I tried to pick out woods that I thought would best go with Nancy’s choice of colors. For example the ebony splines bring out the black colors in the tree depictions. I sealed her work in a plastic freezer bag while I assembled, sanded, finished, and wax the wooden parts then cut away the bag when my part was finished.
Boxes like these have sold well and we are both pleased with the collaboration. You can build a box that will showcase almost any graphic talent and it is fun.
Thanks for looking and commenting.

Nancy, indeed is talented & does beautiful work. Does nancy have a website? If so, could you give us a link?
The boxes are delightful & i see why they sell well.

What an eye-catcher! Your collaboration is great. I’ll bet a craft fair table stops all passers-by. Good work!

Amazing combined efforts, beautiful indeed. – Len
Your Projects should find there way into the Dictionary next to this defination;
syn·er·gy – combined effort being greater than parts: the working together of two or more people, organizations, or things, especially when the result is greater than the sum of their individual effects or capabilities

WoW, that is really nice….you two work great together. My wife is an paint Artist and I have had here do paintings on many items I have made..mostly country furniture. Always wondered if the client was buying the paint job or the woodworking. Thanks for sharing.

Oh lovely. I primarily work in fused glass and I am planning a series of small boxes with glass tops – now I know it can be done. I may come to you for advice on fitting the artwork into the lid. This is right in line with what I am planning to try. Very nicely done on both your parts.

WOW! Michelletwo asked if Nancy has a website? I wouldn’t mind commissioning her to do a lid like this one.
I’ll be looking foreward to hearing about it. Super work to both of you!
