Mahogany Gimble

A friend of mine bought this solid bras oil lamp that has headed studs sticking out the side. It was meant to be mounted by those studs so he asked if I could make a gimble to hold it on the wall. I would liked to have made it from brass but that would cost a fortune so I tried it this way with solid mahogany and brass inserts and pins.

It is 8 5/8” wide and 10 3/4” deep and the mahogany is 7/8” thick. The lamp is in Minnesota so I could not try it but dimensionally it should fit fine. My only concern is if it is strong enough because that lamp is 15-20 pounds.

It is finished with Clear Matte spray.

I just put in 2 photos of the gimble with the lamp in it. It held the weight okay!!

Wonderful gimble. I would think with the wall mounting hardware today, it would be able to hold the weight.
