How is everyone doing? Here are some pictures of my newest conquest. I built a coffee table for my wife from scrap shipping blocks from work. The top is white pine and black oak, the legs are white pine, and the skirt is yellow pine. The blocks are about 3×3, I have been resawing them on my bandsaw. I just got a load today and one of the blocks was a wood that I am not familiar with, it seems to have about twice the density of oak. I had a heck of a time resawing this block. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what kind of wood this is, it is the close up picture of the yellowish wood with the gray stripes. Thanks, and everyone have a good night.

That’s a great looking table Brett! I’m sure your wife loves it. My hat goes off to you for reusing wood to make something so nice looking.

I don’t know what kind of wood that is. It could be south American canary wood??? One clue would be where you get your shipping blocks from, and what parts of the world do they get shipments from. That should help narrow it down. Hope this helped…
Have your say...
