My wife asked me to make a shaker style bed that combined features from different examples she found on the internet. This was my first time turning, and while each leg is a little different, I am still very pleased with the overall outcome.

The bed is finished with 3 coats of amber shellac and beeswax.

Very nice job on this bed. Looks like a traditional Shaker design. Nice craftsmanship throughout. Thanks for the post.

I love the simple elegance of the design and construction. Beautiful and practical go a long way in my book!

I was just looking at a very similar bed to this in a book called Making Authentic Shaker Furniture. It was four post but very similar. I think you’ve done a great job of executing an elegant design. Is the construction such that the bed can be taken apart?

Very nice. I like your method of holding the slats in place.
