Project Information
Hi. I'm a wood n00b. I love everything about it, and want to learn hand techniques before I get sidetracked with power tools. This is our bedroom TV stand. About a year ago I got some freshly sawn cyprus just down the road. It has been drying-and warping, checking, etc-in my garage for quite a while. I travel a lot and managed to pick up #3 and #4 Sweethearts this fall, so I've spent the last month or so restoring, sharpening, tuning, and learning how to use them. The edge banding was brought flush to the birch plywood with them, the joints finely tuned, and all cyprus smoothed. I had entertained the idea of pinned tennon joinery, but I didn't have a decent set of chisels at the time, and the Mrs. was very eager to get the TV off the bedroom floor. Thanks dad for that nifty Kreg pocket hole jig…
