I received my Wood Magazine May 2012 issue a few weeks back and I found the plans for this front end loader in the issue. My dad’s 72nd birthday was coming up and I thought that this would be a great gift for him. He is retired but at his last job he operated one of these daily. I have never made one of these type of projects but it was alot of fun doing so. I gave the gift to my dad and he loved it. It is made of Walnut and Maple. Thanks for looking.

You did a good job. I built the dump bed truck and now the long bed truck . I am thinking about doing this to go on the long bed truck.

I’m building one also, I noticed that you left the 1/8 champher out also. It seemed like overkill to me.
I just got the hardware kit the other day, so I can finish up soon. Today was consumed by driving to pickup a dust collector. A 3.5hp PennState with the cartridge filter. Man, that thing sucks a lot more than my current 2hp (1.5 on a good day) HF unit. It has a 7.75 inch diameter main inlet with a reducing collar to 6”. I guess I will have to break down and get the 6” S&D pipe now.

Great job and a wonderful present. I still remember how thrilled I was when I received a bird feeder built by my grandson with help from my son, so I know how your father feels. Hope he has many more.

Wow Mike, your dad is really old, or at least older than me. I am 72 today. This was nicely done and a really thoughtful gift too.
