Hi LumberJocks,
I forget how much I enjoy making chips and sawdust until I get down to it again.
I built this playing card display case for my son the “magician.” This guy “really” enjoys his card illusions/tricks and he collects playing card decks too. I was inspired after visiting a magic forum he frequents and thought (correctly) that he would enjoy seeing them when not using them so I designed and built what you see in the two images. This get’s ‘some” of the decks out of the drawer. The case neatly displays 25 standard decks.
Due to budget constraints, the case was made from clear pine and has plexiglass in the door. A simple brass catch on the side keeps it closed. Each of the shelves has “V” groove routed towards the case’s front for the cards to sit in. This groove keeps them aligned and tilted back at 10 degrees. The finish is hand wiped polyurethane over stain.
Enjoy! Shalom Shalom – Fred
