This is a sign I made for a friend whose dad was an avid hunter. So for Father’s day last year he wanted to do something different. The sign is about 3’ long and the letters are made from ordinary 3/8” rope that is cut to size for each letter, then the end of the rope is wrapped with fine thread and hot glued to ensure the letters dont unravel and fall apart. Then the letters were located on the plaque with fine headless brass pins and hot glued in place, once the glue dried the pins were set below the rope so as not to be seen,(they can be removed if you choose)The end result was a success.( Even though I know there are mistakes) and the sign is hanging proudly over the door of the cabin now. The entire project was coated with 4 layers of marine grade poly prior to installing the rope to allow the rope to age & weather.

Eagle,
This is a very interesting project. You used a novel technique to create the letters. I would never have imagined doing something like this.
Thanks for the post.

If anyone tries this, make sure that you try to seal the end of the rope with the hot glue (exterior) that you try not to get it on the side of the rope because as it ages this area will not fade (grey) the same and it will show. Also try to hide all knots from thread
