Life size Baby cradle I built for our new grandson, the top measures 40×28, it’s made out of Red Oak and clear lacqure gloss finish.

Dave, very, very nice and congratulations Grand Pa. One small suggestion, in a small inconspicuouse place, write a note to your grandson that he may find many years from now and know that you have always loved him. My grand daughter doesn’t read yet, but she always looks for the hidden notes, prayers, and poems.

Great job! I really like the style of this cradle and I’m considering building something similar. Is this your own design? If not, can you direct me to where you found the plans for it?

Thanks Randy, it is a great project, I purchased the plans from Cherry Tree Toys the web site is http://www.cherrytreetoys.com/Baby-Cradle-Plan-P2739.aspx
Also, I did not like the swivel that the plans call for so I used something from Rockler Part number 51243 that web site is http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=4&filter=51243 these worked out great for me but you have to make an adjustment to the cradle stands width and the thickness of the upright where they are installed.
Somthing else, when you start gluing the dowels in the wood pieces you need to sand down the ends of the dowels, when you have a already snug fit and the put glue in the hole it swells the wood and nothing will go together (don’t use a hammer, if you do somthing is going to break).
Hope this helps, let us see your finished cradle.
