Project Information
This is another design from Ana White's web site:
http://ana-white.com/2011/08/doll-bunk-beds-american-girl-doll-and-18-doll
My dolls are long gone, so the cats feel it belongs to them.
I made this bunk bed using reclaimed Pine T&G, surfacing all sides with hand planes (practice makes perfect … as long as you stay away from close-ups).
Almost all joinery is mortise & tenon. The exception is the inside ladder support to the rails; which is kind of a half-lap or some such. The rails have a dado which a notch cut in the ladder support fits into making the inside surfaces flush. It's all held together with nothing but glue & hope.
The finish is a few coats of an even mix of BLO, Mineral Spirits and varnish.
As always, comments good, bad or indifferent are welcome.
