I was looking at pictures on my phone deleting them when I came across the first two pictures, this is a torque meter for free flight airplanes. I built it last year and it was shortly after I purchased my initial round of tools to start my shop. Again my father who as often as my wife and kids brings ideas for me to ponder and try out mentioned he wanted this meter to gauge how much tension he was putting on the rubber band( it is a club and competition i guess it is important) anyway he came up with the specs and wanted it to be square at which time as we were building it we slowly started making it look like an airplane. the piano wire on the side takes so much pressure to turn it and you can’t see it but there are marks around the edge of the front for a dial.
The plane in the picture is the what he builds and fly’s although they vary in many ways plane to plane.

I am corrected the marks were put on later and not in these pictures. It was also before the final coat of paint.

I wouldn’t have guessed what that was in a million years. After your explanation it completely makes sense. The shape made me think of an airplane but I couldn’t figure out for the life of me what it was. How ingenious!
