I made this for my wife, against her request…so I guess it is for myself. This is a translucent veneer lamp with a body made out of solid, figured, black walnut. Design created as I went. The veneer is birdseye maple stabilized with fiberglass and epoxy. One lower board has two knots that I also added birdseye veneer to the back, although you don’t get a sense in the pics of the translucency. Feet and top made out of maple. For lighting I used dimmable CREE LED puck lights. Grain filled with rotten stone during finishing. French Polish although I haven’t yet buffed. The lamp is 5 feet tall, 11 inches wide. The model is my beautiful daughter.

Walnut from the Wood Rack, Branford, CT….a great small business for those in the area.

Nice! I’ve been thinking about doing something like ever since I got a bandsaw for Christmas. Now I feel inspired.
