This is my first turned mallet. After seeing what these cost in the store it motivated me to take a stab at it. I think it turned out well. Had some help from the mentors/gurus from the Waxhaw Woodturners club (Waxhaw, NC). Its got good weight and feel, and most importantly the handle matched my bear paw of a hand.
Started with a nice dried piece of firewood (ash we think). Saved a few bucks, learned a new skill. I honor those willing to share their knowledge and time with us novices.
