The two boxes in the picture are projects completed for gifts for 2011 Christmas. Ths smaller turned box is made of walnut with ash inset in the lid and lid knob. The taller box is actually a cigar holder.
Both turnings were completed on the lathe and required exceptional fit for the lids. The Cigar box lid fits is 8 sided to fit the internal dimension of the 8 sided turned box. The walnut box lid and knob were inset with Ash to enhance the contrasting colors of light and dark of the two woods.

Great work. Brilliant job getting the hex lid to fit.
