Very nice ! Both the math teacher and the woodworker in me are really happy with that !
A Mobius band is a paradoxical geometric figure : if an ant was to crawl along the length of the strip, it would crawl to the “other side” of its starting point and then come back to where it began without ever turning around or flipping around an edge. Try to run it in your mind and you’ll see !
In mathematical terms, the paradox is that locally, there are obviously two sides, but taken as a whole, the object has only one side. It is called non-orientable because if you had a colony of (smart) ants living on it, all trained to turn “clockwise”, at least one of them would turn in the opposite direction to its neighbor and thus, the notion of “clockwise” has actually no meaning on the Mobius strip.
