Shaper table and fence

I recently aquired a 2 hp jet shaper which I love so far. The problem was the collet for router bits protruded above the table by 1/2”, making it pretty useless. Using it with shaper cutters is fine, but the majority of my planned use will be with router bits. So I made this quick malamine table to raise the working height above the collet, and it gives me twice the surface to support long pieces. Its 40” long. I can also put an extra sheet under it if I need more height above the collet. I also made new fences from cherry, which are full length, way better than the stock ones. The tabletop removes quickly with 4 bolts for when I use shaper cutters. I drilled and tapped 2 new holes in the cast top for more adjustment for the fence, to move it back past centerline of the spindle.

That’s a good idea. Nice looking table, too.
