This was a fun project I did years ago for my man cave. The top and base were made from mahogany. The top I had to glue, and shape, then cut out the middle part. I then stained the middle and glued it back together( very carefully so I had no squeeze out). Then I inlaid three circles of yellow heart. I finished the top with a two part epoxy finish. Then finished the base with shellac. The top has been abused over several football seasons and is still in great condition. That epoxy finish really holds up.
