This was my first word project when we bought our first home and about 15 years since the last time I had worked with wood. I wanted a place for our daily paper to go that wasn’t in our driveway but as you can see in the last picture, they don’t use this.
It is big enough for a paper to fit, I drew up the plans myself then after putting all four sides on decided that I wanted an inlay on it. It would have been a lot easier to think of the inlay PRIOR to constructing the box but I came up with a clever way to make rail guides for the router after the fact.
Mitered Butt Joints for the corners and back cover, with nail reinforcement of the glue.
