Built this for one of my great grandkids. My design, not my concept of the swingarms for the back/sides. Structural parts and rockers are SYP, slats for seat and back are ponderosa. Minwax Ipswich Pine stain, three coats satin poly. LOTS of sanding. Used one eight-foot SYP 2×6 and 3 ponderosa 1×12x8.

Wow, that’s a great looking design plus is functional after the short time the baby is sleeping in a cradle.

Nicely done for someone who claims to only be a “tyro.” Thanks for the new word to add to my vocabulary—now if I can only remember it.

Oh my gosh! ... a chair that turns into a little crib!! I kept going back and forth between the 1st and 2nd photo trying to make sense of what it was I saw, but the 3rd photo brought it all home. What a marvellous design!!! Perfect for the grandkids … from start to finish. Well done, rejo55!

Actually, this is more than a little cradle. I neglected to show the dimensions, but this is the size of a love seat. Inside measurement (side to side) is 34 inches. I made one for the house and Miss Honey Ma’am (my wife) and I sit in it together, and neither of us is “svelte”. I made one for another granddaughter and she has two sons, aged six and seven, and they both can sleep in it at the same time.
Thank all of y’all for the kind words. I think I have just about figgered out how to upload, then download and upload again the pics of the landscape timber house MHM and I built. Hope to post the second segment of the odyssey soon.
Have a good’un
Joe
