Last year I got from my mother’s parents’ home a piece of oak plank, over 70 years old. From it I made this bowl with lid. I’m going to make it a gift to my mother. Thus she always have something to remind her the house where she grew up.

This is a very unusual design and nicely done.

You’ve just shown that oak works for more than just flatwork. Great job!

Nice Job. I like the rolled edge on the top of the bowl.
Did you have any problem with chip out on the legs?

It does look very familiar. I posted one quite like it in my projects about 2 years ago.

Thanks for apreciations.
It may. I am a beginner and I’m not sufficiently prepared to invent new models. But good enough to get inspiration from others better than me. But each piece has a personal touch, don’t you think?

No two pieces of work are the. I personally am weak on design ideas but strong on application of them; with my own modifications or course. So we grow from other peoples work. The greatest inventors do not spontaneously produce new ideas. They draw inspiration from many different sources and people.

It has been said that copying is the greatest form of flattery. I post most of my work not for admiration but to help others form ideas for their work and I regularly visit this site to for that same reason.
