Jointer Upgrades (they are made of wood, it's OK)

I never liked where the switch was on my jointer. After seeing some of the designs on the new machines I blatantly copied the idea with mine. The switch comes from Busy Bee, $12 I think. and it mounts to a standard 2104 electrical device box. The post that the switch is mounted on is 2 studs that I pulled out of my house that I milled down and routed out a slot for the cords to run through and glued together. Two hanger bolts hold it to the machine.

Not so impressive or original is the mobile base. It has 4 – 2” non swivel castors on the bottom. They are non swivel for 2 reasons: 1)price 2) it only has to move about 18” in and out of it’s spot in the shop.

Some Tremclad grey (or the Home Hardware no-name evquivalent). Job done.

-- When questioned about using glue on a garbage bin I responded, "Wood working is about good technique and lots of glue........I have the glue part down."

I really like that switch. Tell us more about “Busy Bee?” I’d like to find out how to get one.

The switch comes from Busy Bee I checked a few places for a switch like this one and they were the cheapest, and the staff was good too.

Thank you so much for the Busy Bee resource. That kind of value, the ability to share when you find good resources, is another great reason to be part of LJ.
